POOLE OLD TOWN - Georgian Maritime History... Poole`s Georgian Old Town is steeped in history. The recently extended Museum in the Lower High Street tells of Poole’s earliest development as a port sheltered within the World’s second largest natural harbour, and of its extensive trade links with Newfoundland. If you want to explore Poole to the full, leave your car behind and join the Cockle Trail – a walking tour of the Old Town, which tells visitors how Poole Town developed into the flourishing destination you see today.

We stayed at Anchor Cottage and really enjoyed the experience. So much better than a hotel. Staff were attentive, and the site was in great shape. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful cottage very close to the harbour. Clean spacious and light. Everything you would need to cook a family meal but also within a short walking distance to all shops and restaurants on the harbour. Comfy beds and quiet nights. Stayed with a 3yr old and 8yr old who really enjoyed their ‘beach holiday’ - The property is only a 15mims drive to the nearest sandy beach and other great places to visit along the Jurassic coast. we particularly loved lulworth cove. would definitely recommend this property and hope to return next year.

We stayed here for two weeks in June. The cottage is beautiful and so close to The Quay and a short walk to the town centre shops. Would highly recommend.

Location excellent, house beautifully furnished and very clean. Very quiet residential street considering its proximity to the quay.
