Description

West End House is a fine Grade II* listed example of early Georgian architecture. Tucked quietly away in St James's Church Close at the centre of Poole Old Town, it's almost impossible to believe you are just a minute's walk from the bustling Quayside, with its fine selection of restaurants and bars and regular ferries to Brownsea Island. Dorset's biggest covered shopping centre is also just 10 minutes' stroll away.

West End House has 5 double/twin bedrooms, each with an en-suite, and a ground floor cloakroom, so there’s no queuing for the bathroom here! There are sitting rooms and kitchens on the ground and top floors, offering plenty of space to accommodate the extended family. There’s an elegant dining room with a big round table on the ground floor. Outside, there is a small patio immediately to the rear, and beyond the dedicated parking area for 4 vehicles is a further walled garden for al fresco dining and a summerhouse with deck chairs – the perfect place for grandma to sneak away from the grand kids with a good book!

Parking - Ample parking for four cars within the sizeable yard shared with the adjacent cottages.

Services - Duvets and linen provided including bath and beach towels. Gas central heating. Hairdryers.

Technology - WIFI, flat screen 50 inch television in living room, playroom and top floor lounge all with Virgin freeview services. DVD players, CD player, IPOD docking station, Xbox 360.

Two Kitchens - Hobs, Electric Ovens, Fridges, Dishwashers, Microwave. Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer.

This house is a part of Poole’s heritage. It’s beautiful inside with fascinating period features throughout, loads of space, superbly clean and close to all the local amenities and tourist hot spots, whilst being private and secluded at the same time. Would highly recommend.

What a beautiful and interesting house. All the snacks and toiletries were such a lovely addition. It was also lovely to have the house visited by a cleaner everyday - really helpful. The house had a charm of a home, with the trimmings of a hotel. Lots of local eateries and entertainment - day and night. Loads of toys for the children. Loved reading the folder prepared by Hannah on the history of the house. We would definitely recommend this lovely home. Thank you for having us!

Duncan, Helen, Hannah and Leo, What a gorgeous home you have - Thanks you for the opportunity to use it during our stay in Dorset. We have treated it as home (but with extra care!) Such a good position - perfect for Dorset's beautifully sandy beaches and the great shopping in Swanage. For anyone visiting - Alum & Branksome Chine are lovely beaches, Sandbanks is nice - Bournemouth good for a one-off. Swanage has some real treasures, and of course the steam train and Corfe Castle. Simply beautiful! Thank you so much for a wonderful visit - your home is amazing and we all had the most perfect stay!

Great house, beatifully restored - well done! Being so close to the Old Poole Quay meant the children could go crabbing, fishing, eating. Baffi was good fun & lovely pubs, but we were to tempted by the beached so too tired to go out much / often in the evening!

Hi Duncan, Helen, Hannah and Leo. Just Just a note to let you know what a great stay the Tonkys and Dovers had this week. Your home is not just beautiful but also part of Poole history which we even saw in Poole museum. The schoolwork also was great in exploring all. We are near to everything and able to stagger back after a few beers. Being musical we also tickled the ivories and one of was please to see the buge. If you could have a work with the sea gull as well to tell them not to start going until after 9am :-)

This west end house represents one of the best of what Airbnb can offer! It’s a truly impressive house full of history and is even a local attraction. It’s a real home to its owner and only made available during summer. It’s indeed gracious of the owners to open such amazing house with guests. The management company of the property makes the place sparkling clean, full of considerate touches such as wine, tea, personal card etc. And there is a daily room service to make it very comfortable for guests. I’m very impressed by the level of service provided and feel pampered. It’s super friendly to kids too as there is a lovely playroom full of toys. My family friends and I truly enjoyed the place and would love to stay again should there is a chance in the future.

Dear Duncan, Helen, Hannah and Leo, We have had a great time in your cosy and lovely house. We are delighted about its history and how you have maintained it throughout the years. Its location is also wonderful, allowing us to make trips around the area, including Salisbury, Southampton, Stonehenge, Bournemouth, the Sandbanks, etc. We also have to mention the marvellous games room you have created in the house, our kids loved to stay there for hours and even wanted to sleep there!!! All the best for the future.

Thank you so much for allowing us to share in the charm and character of your beautiful house. Although very much a family residence it is also a piece of history and you should be rightly proud of the work you have invested in it. The house is large and well appointed; all 11 of us fitted in and felt very much at home. The weather was kind most of the time and so we did enjoy the garden. On the one damp day of our holiday, the playroom (a stroke of genius) really came into its own and was a real hit with our three grandchildren. Hannah deserves a special mention for her well-authored history project. We found her detailed research quite fascinating. Finally, thank you also for the complementary gifts. We would love to come and stay again. A wonderful holiday in a beautiful family home, thoroughly enjoyed by everyone from all ages from 3 to 67. Will hopefully stay again sometime.

Thank you for lending us your beautiful home for our family holiday. The weather has alternated between torrential rain and beautiful blue skies so we have been so grateful to have the run of your house - we've had picnics in the hall, made fabulous camps behind the sofa and have played sardines every single day - such a brilliant house for hiding in. The room shave been filled with joyful squeals of happy cousins playing with your fabulous toys - like living in a toyshop. Thanks again.

Your beautiful house has made our family holiday just perfect. Grandparents, children and grandchildren all had the most wonderful week. The kitchen is brilliantly equipped and the play room was an unexpected joy for the small people (and a welcome diversion!). All the bedrooms are comfortable with lovely furniture and added touches.
