Poole BID has announced Poole’s inaugural ‘Big Clean’ event. For the first time ever, the European Maritime Festival is coming to the UK, and Poole has been chosen to host it! With 1,700 delegates descending from all over Europe, Poole BID (business improvement district) is determined that Poole Town Centre will look its best. From 2nd May to 7th May, businesses are being encouraged to undertake their own Spring clean, in preparation for the event and the busy summer season ahead. There will be competitions for the ’Best Spring-Cleaned Shop Front’ and the ‘Best Dressed, Maritime-Themed Window’, to encourage participants.
The BID has organised mobile access equipment for hard-to-reach areas, gutter clearing, high-level window cleaning, decoration and small maintenance tasks. This work will be charged at cost to BID levy-paying businesses. Following the Big Clean, the Town will be dressed in 3.3km of nautical bunting and floral displays throughout the BID area – from the Lighthouse, along the length of the High Street, Poole Quay, and streets in between.
BID director, Helen Challis, explained “Poole’s business improvement district is driving improvements in the Town Centre, and the Big Clean is just one of a number of new initiatives. Shoppers will see positive changes this year. Our town will look smarter, and with a number of exciting new retailers coming soon, Poole’s re-invigorated retail offer will give shoppers more reason to visit.”
